Almost every job ad has a statement like this:


“We are passionate about creating a diverse workforce and positively encourage applications from under-represented communities. We particularly encourage applications from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) and disabled candidates. We are committed to equality and diversity within our workforce."


Whilst well intentioned, these types of overused statements don't play out well with candidates from these backgrounds - what candidates want to see is real evidence that you're walking the talk and that your reasons for wanting diversity are clearly linked to your work and organisation.
